How (and why) you should increase your speed

PLUS: This might be the coolest wine bar on earth, autistic mind reading, and the best places in the world to invest in real estate in 2025....

Welcome to this week’s edition of ‘The Adventure Capitalist’, the newsletter for the uncommon man.

I’m especially excited to write to you today because for the first time this year, and for the first time in my son’s life, we’re snowed in and there is no sign of it stopping. It feels special. Soon the snow will be gone and we’ll only be able to look back at today as a memory.

Here’s what you can expect in this issue:

  • The most fascinating podcast since Serial just dropped

  • The best (and cheapest) places in the world to buy real estate in 2025

  • An assortment of links to get your blood flowing

Right now, or not at all:

As I go into a season of hard work, every day I wake up and attempt to increase my velocity on all things related to business.

That means faster decision-making, getting back to people quicker, moving meetings up, etc. Projects and progress die in deliberation – and thrive in action.

Doing this is only an option if you keep your schedule mostly open.

I learned this approach from a client years ago who demonstrated its power: when someone called his phone during our meetings, he'd answer and make decisions in 15 seconds flat and return to our work without missing a beat.

If something is important, get it done immediately with a phone call, a text, or an email. Don’t wait. Don’t add it to your to-do list. Just do it.

Massive energy is created when you take action.

This is the big reason why speed wins. The magic isn't in doing better work – it's in the energy and confidence that builds with each completed task.

This is your call to action to just get it done.

The highest-level operators in the world default to text. You can too.

The Adventure Capitalist:

In this week’s episode, Cody and I interview “The Wandering Investor” Ladislas Maurice. Ladislaw has lived in more countries than most people will ever visit in their lives, and he’s done more international real estate deals than anyone I’ve ever heard of.

He owns properties in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe. We discuss the ins and outs of who should invest abroad, how he finds his deals (and how you can too), and we dive into the most underrated locations globally.

The Lifestyle:

🌎 Global Adventure:

The coolest wine bar in the world might be in Montenegro. They age their wines 20 meters underwater (under the bar) and then dive down to pull out your chilled bottle so you can drink it on their floating dock. You have to see it to believe it (link).

If you have dreams of backpacking in our national parks this year, NOW is the time to make reservations. Most of the permits are released in the next 2 months. Here is a list of the upcoming deadlines by state (link).

💰Wealth, Business, and Life:

I have a fear that if I’m not careful, I’ll blink my eyes and my son will be in high school. He will still be my son, but things will be different. This is an excellent post about getting intentional about what experiences you want to have together with your children and what you want to teach them in their early years (link).

Every year this woman sets the same New Year resolution, I think it’s fabulous (link).

🚁 The Best of the Best:

What if I told you some autistic children can read minds? Would you believe me? For years, many parents of non-speaking autistic children have been convinced their children are communicating using something similar to telepathy, but until now these parents have been ridiculed, ignored, and criticized.

A new podcast called The Telepathy Tapes dives into this wild world of silent communication and mind reading. I was highly skeptical, but this series is 10/10 fascinating. For a few days, this was the most popular podcast in the world (link).

winter is here. embrace it.
